Upskilling for Communications Professionals working in Music Nonprofits ABOUT In 2023, through a European-wide study, it was found that over 90% of the music nonprofits surveyed have one or less staff members running all their communications efforts. That’s just one person responsible for marketing, branding, social media, graphic design, video editing, web development, SEO… the list goes on and on. Simply put, it is a massively demanding position that requires a tremendous skill set, a resilient mindset and uniquely creative approaches to achieving their organisations goals. The JMI Digibazar Training is an annual event for communications professionals working within music institutions, designed to support them to take on these challenges and achieve their organisation's communications goals. We want to create a generation of communications superheroes! This year’s three-day intensive training will take place in Limassol (Cyprus) from the 2nd to the 6th of November. It is bespoke training that works with participants to craft tailored approaches that address the specific communications challenges their organisations face. We work around building upon the core competencies needed for the role, leveraging the latest technologies and best practices around AI. JMI’s Digibazar aims to over time build a community of support amongst communications professionals in the music sector so that we may all make a greater difference through music. The training is organised by JM International - the world’s largest youth music nonprofit with 46,000 music activities annually reaching 7,000,000 young people. Now in its third edition, it builds on the experience of our previous trainings and JMI’s Digibazar (2023), a Musicaire-funded initiative that looked to uncover the unique challenges and opportunities facing the music sector over the coming years. MEET THE TRAINERS The training will be run by a team of seasoned music marketing professionals including: Ricardo van Mildert (Netherlands) Ricardo is the cofounder of MoonJelly Music Marketing Agency and has worked with a wide range of major artists and music institutions across genres and countries in order to craft effective marketing offerings. A trained psychologist, Ricardo’s unique approach helps music professionals get to the core of their WHY and build powerful strategies that are based on authenticity. Collette Wasielewski (Germany / South Africa) Collette is an award-winning Creative Director, a multi-faceted marketing magician who has led the creative teams of some of South Africa’s largest ad agencies, running massive campaigns that have made real impact. Colette brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the private sector to the nonprofit sector working with music institutions in order to go beyond the obvious and take their content to the next level! Matt Clark (Belgium/South Africa) Matt is JM International’s Programs & Marketing Director, where for the past 18 years he has led the organisation's communications and marketing efforts. Matt is a multi-disciplinary specialist with experience across almost every aspect of communications within the music sector and brings with him practical tools and approaches to support music communications professionals, teams and organisations of all levels.
