WELCOME TO ETHNO NEW ZEALAND 2022, January 21-30! Ethno New Zealand 2022 will be the the 5th edition of Ethno held in Aotearoa. It is open to all musicians age between 18-30. Ethno New Zealand will take place on Piritahi Marae on Waiheke Island. It will be a week of young musicians teaching each other their traditional music, sharing cultural experiences and taking part in workshops. A Marae provides the perfect foundations for a pacific Ethno experience. This is a unique experience that will give you a deeper understanding of our indigenous peoples of New Zealand and our many other cultures that reside here in Aotearoa all while creating musical magic. The week will culminate in a number of performances, one of them at iconic Auckland Folk Festival. All participants are expected to attend the powhiri at Piritahi Marae on Waiheke Island on the 21st January. Participants will need to arrive on Waiheke Island by 1pm in order to attend the powhiri.
